The law is crystal clear: If your daughter is over 18, or your son is over 21, they can legally declare their intent to marry whoever they want. Once two adult individuals agree to marry, the consent of the parents, family, or caste is absolutely not necessary.

Gathering five or more people to condemn a marriage is now classified as an “Unlawful Assembly”. Every family member involved can face six months to five years in prison.
• Emotional Threats: Yelling things like “You are dead to us” or “We will ruin your life” is now “Criminal Intimidation.” This can carry a prison sentence of three to five years, and up to seven years if the threat is severe.
